Jesus Is Taken Down From The Cross
We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.
Consider that, our Lord having expired, two of His disciples, Joseph and Nicodemus, took Him down from the cross, and placed Him in the arms of His afflicted Mother, who received Him with unutterable tenderness.
"Rather, He emptied Himself and took the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men. He was known to be of human estate, and it was thus that He humbled Himself." —Philippians 2:7-8
Prayer: Father, may I humble myself (Mt 23:12)
